Weighty Woodside
Well, Coach said today would be the toughest run of the season, and I believe it. We'll run longer in coming weeks, but this diabolical course starts with climbing switchbacks through Huddart Park, then a long rolling stretch along Canada Road, before plunging into Edgewood Park around mile 10 for more tough climbing! It was a good workout both physically and mentally. I was exhausted coming off the last hills, but this was when Coach said we should try to run at our marathon race pace to prove to ourselves we could do it. I did it! A strong finish. My legs are wasted, but no knee pain, which is a big relief. Much of the course was on trails rather than roads, and these softer surfaces are a godsend
Talkin' 'bout the weather
We had the full spectrum of elements to train in today as well. It was kind of cold and windy at the start, then it drizzled, then the sun came out and it was warm, and then it rained for the rest of the run. It's fun to run in the rain! It makes you feel like a kid again.
